Voluntary Action North Lanarkshire (VANL) is the Third Sector Interface for third sector organisations in North Lanarkshire

Operating from offices in Airdrie, VANL is Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (Scottish Charity no. SC041224 ;and is a membership organisation open to third sector organisations across the local authority area.

Our Vision

Our vision is for high levels of volunteering and public confidence in the voluntary sector across North Lanarkshire.

Our vision for Voluntary Action North Lanarkshire is a credible, valued and highly regarded strategic partner and first point of contact for volunteering and voluntary sector issues, known for its inclusiveness, responsiveness and innovation; well run, well resourced and self-sufficient, with skilled and motivated staff and volunteers, widely regarded as an exemplar organisation and model of best practice.


Voluntary Action North Lanarkshire will foster dynamic, inclusive communities by promoting and supporting volunteering and the development of the voluntary and community sectors, improving the quality of life for all North Lanarkshire’s citizens.

Strategic Aims

Voluntary Action North Lanarkshire will be the single door access for volunteering and the voluntary sector in North Lanarkshire – for individual volunteers, for member organisations and for strategic partners.

Our strategic aims are to:

•Build the capacity of individuals and communities in North Lanarkshire

•Develop the confidence of the voluntary sector

•Develop confidence in the voluntary sector

•Develop the social and economic impact of the sector
