VANL statement re: Airdrie Complaints

Voluntary Action North Lanarkshire (VANL) are delighted to advise that after thorough and fair investigations into three complaints made against the Community Solutions Locality Host for the Airdrie Consortium – Diamonds in the Community – that the allegations in these complaints were found to be wholly unsubstantiated. VANL thank DITC for their full co-operation during this difficult time – when they continued to act with integrity and professionalism, whilst also continuing to support residents in the Airdrie and village communities

One element of one of the complaints which related to a procedural issue was partly upheld, however, this was due to inadequate guidance by VANL to the Locality Host, which has now been corrected.

Given this outcome, Diamonds in the Community have been re-instated as the Community Solutions Locality Host for the Airdrie Locality.  VANL looks forward to working with Diamonds in the Community and members of the Airdrie Community Solutions Consortia to support the people of Airdrie and the surrounding villages to improve the health and wellbeing of residents.

In addition, one complainant submitted a complaint against VANL due to delay in progressing the investigation into their complaint regarding Diamonds in the Community.  Following investigation, this complaint was upheld with an apology and explanation for the delay provided. The reason for the delay was primarily due to staffing capacity challenges in VANL.  VANL has now changed its approach to investigating complaints so we secure additional capacity so such delays are avoided in future.
