Six Voluntary Sector Locality Networks are facilitated by Voluntary Action North Lanarkshire (on behalf of North Lanarkshire Voluntary Sector Partnership Group) to provide opportunities for volunteers and representatives of third sector organisations in six geographical areas to come together to share key information and discuss issues affecting the local third sector. The following Networks have been operational since 2009:
• Airdrie Area Voluntary Sector Locality Network
• Bellshill Area Voluntary Sector Locality Network
• Coatbridge Area Voluntary Sector Locality Network
• Cumbernauld and North Area Voluntary Sector Locality Network
• Motherwell Area Voluntary Sector Locality Network
• Wishaw and Shotts Area Voluntary Sector Locality Network
Network Events are hosted in each locality area twice per annum (February-March and August-September), and incorporate short information and presentation slots from local third sector organisations, an update on third sector activity within Local Area Partnerships and Community Planning as a whole, specific activities and space to enable networking, and key sector updates from Voluntary Action North Lanarkshire as Third Sector Interface.
In many ways, the six Voluntary Sector Locality Networks provide the final piece of the jigsaw in establishing a clear two-way accountability line between grassroots third sector organisations and volunteers and the key decision-makers of North Lanarkshire Partnership. Voluntary Action North Lanarkshire is keen to ensure that the Networks continue to develop and evolve over the coming period to make them relevant and responsive to the needs of the local third sector and Community Planning Partners.
