YPeople’s Intandem Mentoring Programme – Volunteer Mentors Required

Volunteer Mentors are required to support vulnerable young people aged between 8 and 14 in order to develop a positive, trusting, supportive and consistent relationship. The Intandem project aims to improve outcomes for young people who are looked after at home (under a supervision order) by introducing a role model into their life. If you are passionate about volunteering and working with young people from challenging backgrounds then this is the opportunity for you.

The role of volunteer Mentor will involve being matched on a one to one basis with a young person and participating in weekly outings where you will share activities and experiences together. Mentors will develop and maintain a positive relationship with their young person and work with them to achieve their goals and identified outcomes. Volunteers need to be at least 18 years of age and will complete an induction training course, which will involve becoming a PVG scheme member. Once successfully completed, volunteers will then be matched though a group work selection process to encourage relationships to develop naturally.
