Volunteer with Wishaw & District Talking Newspaper for the Blind!

Wishaw & District Talking Newspaper for the Blind

Wishaw & District Talking Newspaper provides weekly audio CDs of the Wishaw Press and Motherwell Times to over 100 visually impaired local people. The group meets every Wednesday morning from 9am – 12 noon in Craigneuk, Wishaw and they are currently looking to expand their group of volunteers.

Volunteer Audio / Computer Technician

Volunteers will be required to set up sound quality for readers and monitor recordings on the computer, then network them to the editing computer to produce master discs.

Volunteer Readers (Weekly Newspaper)

Readers will be required to edit the papers, read the news articles clearly into a microphone and prepare the CD pouches for posting.

If you have time to spare on Wednesday mornings and have the skills required (including a friendly manner and enthusiasm), please contact VANL to express your interest:

Tel: 01236 748011 / info@vanl.co.uk

All volunteers will be referred to the group for an initial chat and this is the first step to getting involved.

Volunteer Readers (Monthly Magazine)

Still at the planning stage, The Talking Newspaper is looking to create a monthly magazine for their subscribers and require a group of readers. This role can be done in isolation or in addition to reading for the weekly newspapers. If you have some time available every month and would like to find out more, please contact VANL who will refer you to the Talking Newspaper for more information.
