Volunteer for Macmillan in Lanarkshire and make a huge difference to people affected by cancer.

Due to the high demand for their services Macmillan urgently need new volunteers to deliver their Cancer Information and Support Services and Gentle Movement classes. Don't worry if you have no experience - they provide full training.

Cancer Information and Support Services (CISS) volunteers offer drop-in services in libraries, hospital and other clinical settings across Lanarkshire. They offer service users a cuppa and a listening ear and help to arrange access to other services, e.g. financial advice, physical activities, counselling or complementary therapies. They need CISS volunteers in Monklands Hospital and in libraries in Bellshill, Coatbridge, Hamilton and East Kilbride.

Gentle Movement volunteers lead exercise classes for people affected by cancer. Gentle Movement is based on Chi Gung, an ancient Chinese practice aligning breathing, physical activity, mental and spiritual awareness. They require Gentle Movement volunteers in the Bellshill, Cumbernauld and Wishaw areas.

There is no experience required as full training for both roles is provided by Macmillan. If you have some time to spare and would like to get involved, please contact VANL for more information or to be referred to your preferred volunteering opportunity: 01698 358866 / dutyofficer@vanl.co.uk
