Improving Health : Developing Effective Practice Course (IH:DEP) commencing September 2019

The IH:DEP Course aims to enable participants to increase their confidence in improving health and tackling inequalities.

Feedback from recent courses has included:

“The course met all the named outcomes and more. There was a lot of content which I hope to take forward in my workplace

I found the course really informative. It has helped me understand: health determinants, causes of health inequalities, working with communities, social cognitive behaviour...”

“This has been an excellent course

The course provides a framework, which encourages critical reflection and the development of effective practice. The course seeks to help participants to understand and maximise the health improvement potential of their role and remit.   It is particularly relevant as we consolidate Health and Social Care Integration and there is a greater emphasis on outcomes relating to prevention, early intervention and addressing inequalities.

This multi-disciplinary course is open to staff and volunteers from statutory, voluntary and community organisations..  We have participants from many different backgrounds including Community Learning and Development, Leisure Services, Primary Care, Nursing staff, Health Improvement staff, Administration and Clerical, Care Homes, Social Work, Youth Work, Education, and various voluntary organisations. The diverse background of participants is a real strength of the course and as a recent participant commented,

I got much more from our face to face sessions as shared experience with the group was invaluable

The course offers participants the option of seeking formal academic credit for their work. There is no cost to participants for the course. There is a charge of £250 if participants opt to complete the accredited assignment.

Further information, including an application form, is available in the documents attached.

To ensure quality of delivery of the course we are limiting places and you are advised to  send in your application as soon as possible and no later than the 30th August 2019.
